21 March World Down Syndrome Day

At the 6th International Symposium on Down syndrome held in Palma, Majorca, the boards of Down Syndrome International and the European Down Syndrome Association (EDSA) decided to claim March 21st as World Down Syndrome Day. The 21st day of the 3rd month was chosen in order to highlight and promote a greater understanding of Down syndrome which is associated with 3 copies of chromosomes 21 (Trisomy 21).
