The NZDSA was established 40 years ago as a charitable organisation. The NZDSA receives no government funding so the donations we receive from this annual telephone fundraising campaign will fund the NZDSA to raise awareness, to support its ongoing work and to fund four specific projects described below. This telephone campaign will run from the 3rd May to the 25th June 2021
This year our annual appeal is four critical projects:
- The first is to host our annual Youth Development Camp at Vaughan Park Retreat Centre and MERC, Long Bay, Auckland in November 2021. This camp will focus on building self-esteem, well-being, gaining independence and confidence, as well as some activities like rock climbing, archery and abseiling.
- The second is to publish and distribute our quarterly journal called CHAT 21.
- The third is to produce the Golden Years resource which will educate whānau and professionals who support and care for ageing people with Down syndrome.
- The vital information, support and advocacy work that the NZDSA provides to people with Down syndrome, their whānau and professionals.
