Dr Sarah Paterson-Hamlin has been working in the Down syndrome community since 2017, first with UpsideDowns and now with NZDSA. She is also a locally-elected member on the Whau Local Board within Auckland Council. Originally from Dunedin, she undertook a PhD in literature at the University of Glasgow. She lives with her husband and two young sons in Avondale.
